2021 Dates for Your Diary!

It’s been a very busy month here at Phoenix, but we’ve managed to find some time to let you know about our latest courses and what we have scheduled for the rest of the year. Here’s an update from Karen to let you know what she is planning for Phoenix this year!

Our Adult Mental Health First Aid course which is running on the1st/2nd July led by Mandy at Saltaire Training and we are pleased to say that this course is now fully booked! If you are interested in attending this course, we are offering further dates on 9th/10th September.  We will be posting feedback following the course so keep an eye open for this and please give me a call if you would like to discuss content.

Currently ongoing is our increasingly popular Blended First Aid at Work and Paediatric course.  This is a dynamic, hands on experience with our trainer Steve Perry.  We will be scheduling in several more of these courses throughout the year as customers become more familiar with the concept.  This is something that will definitely be staying post-Covid.

Courses are now starting to get back to normal and we will be looking to issue a more comprehensive schedule when restrictions are lifted.  One of the reasons for not issuing this immediately is that companies are taking some time to revert to releasing delegates for training, preferring to train in-house with a trainer going to site.  This obviously has a knock-on effect on the running of open courses, but our trainers are keeping busy.

In the meantime, if you want to book training and we are not advertising it, give me a call to discuss your requirements.  Remember, we are able to offer a full range of health & safety training, first aid, IT, forklift truck etc.

Remember to keep an eye on our Facebook and Twitter updates for the latest updates, but please see below for what we have scheduled so far…

Introducing Youth Mental Health First Aid Courses at Phoenix

Following the success of the Adult Mental Health First Aid Course that we ran in late April in conjunction with The Saltaire Training Company, we are excited to announce that we will be hosting a series of Youth Mental Health First Aid courses to help support those working with children and young adults between the ages of 8 and 18.

These courses aim to give you confidence to spot the signs of mental health issues in a young person so that you can offer first aid and help to guide them towards getting the help and support that they need, speeding up recovery and improving their lives. If you are unsure of as to whether you should attend the course, we have helpfully answered a few FAQ’s below to help you decide!

Who should attend a Youth Mental Health First Aid Course?

  • This course is suitable for those who want to gain the necessary skills to have a non-judgmental conversation, recognise the signs and symptoms of common mental health illnesses and understand how they can affect young people. Anyone can attend, but we hope that those working in schools or primarily youth focussed environment will find a great amount of benefit from it that they can take and apply to their daily working lives

What will I learn on the course?

  • Over the two days, this course aims to teach you to listen, reassure and respond, even in a crisis situation and even to potentially stop a crisis from happening. Each delegate will be given the time that they need to work through different scenarios and ask questions so that they can get as much out of the course as they feel that they need

How is the course taught?

  • Training will be delivered from our Keighley based training room via The Saltaire Training Company, who will break the days down into four sessions and the content will be delivered via presentations, discussion, group activities and videos, so that each delegate feels immersed in the learning experience. To give an idea of the course content, please see below:

Session 1 –

  • What is Mental Health?
  • The Mental Health Continuum
  • Risk and protective factors
  • Stigma and discrimination
  • Stress
  • The MHFA Action Plan – ALGEE

Zoom Training at Phoenix

Throughout lockdown, we have all had to change our lives and ways of working to adapt to the ever changing situation, and here at Phoenix, we have done exactly the same with the way that we teach, in order to fit around you and the way that you now need to learn.

In March, we offered our first flexible learning option, which allows delegates to complete online and classroom based training, but alongside that, we started to offer our courses via Zoom, and what a response we have had!

Each week, Karen and her trainers have delivered several courses across a wide range of topics, which include IT, First Aid and Health and Safety to more delegates than we have been able to access before across the entire country, which is very exciting for Phoenix as we are branching out father and wider than ever! If you would like to find out more and read some of our outstanding reviews, read on and we will try to answer a few questions for you!

What Courses Are On Offer?

At present, we are currently offering a range of IT, Health and Safety and First Aid Courses, but upon request, we are able to run additional courses in IOSH Managing Safely and Manual Handling to name but a few. For a comprehensive list of the courses that we offer, please see below:

IT Training:

  • MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Publisher, Access – at Basic/Intermediate/Advanced level
  • How to Hold a Zoom Conference
  • MS Project:  Basic, Intermediate

We Can Also Offer:

  • Manual Handling
  • Working at Height
  • Power Press Safety Refresher
  • IOSH Working Safely
  • IOSH Managing Safely
  • Blended Learning Options for Various First Aid courses

What Availability Do You Have?

At present, due to the current situation that we have all found ourselves in, we are running our Zoom Courses around our delegates and their availability, finding a date and time that suits both our trainer and our client. The courses that we have run previously, have combined delegates from several companies, all with different job titles and each and every one has felt that they have had a positive experience after learning with us over Zoom

What Can I Expect from My Zoom Course?

We completely appreciate that Zoom learning is a brand new experience for some of our delegates, and we aim to offer a wholly inclusive experience for all course attendees, so no one feels like they cannot ask a question or reach out for help when needed. We take things at a pace to suit everyone and enjoy answering all your questions and explaining further when required.

What Do Your Delegates Have to Say?

Since offering these courses, we have been completely overwhelmed by the feedback we have got from our delegates! If you need any further convincing on why to choose Phoenix, have a read of these – we were thrilled to hear how much we have helped!

“I just wanted to thank you for a great session on Friday afternoon, and your follow up is absolutely brilliant – your patience with the questions that were raised was very good.  Thank you so much – I have moved farther than I expected with these three Zoom modules”

” Even as an experienced lecturer, I really believe that the training you offer – particularly the ‘PowerPoint ‘ modules, should be a prerequisite for those of us privileged to speak on cruise ships. Your trainer, Karen is excellent and has taught me so much”

“As a Health and Safety bod I try not to subscribe to stereotypes, however from my experience you appear to have a rare gift of not only knowing IT inside out, but being able to pass knowledge on in a very clear and personable manner!”

If all of the above has helped you understand how we can help you via one of our Zoom Training Courses, then why not get in touch today to make a booking or find out more information? Contact Karen on 01535 681167 or email karenn@phoenixservicesolutions.co.uk
