Just a quick personal note for you – I attended this course last year having had no experience of this type of thing at all – I usually call my husband to deal with all things electrical! (sad but true). I came away from the course with a thorough understanding of how to carry out PAT Testing and confident that I would be able to do this. I have since tested everything in our offices ranging from kettles to cabling, t.v.’s and fridges without issue.
This is a good hands on course with lots of practical advice and guidance, delivered by a qualified Electrician with the ability to deliver information in a way that is easy to comprehend for the non-electrician.

The aim of the course is to enable those attending to gain the necessary skills and knowledge to carry out Portable Appliance Testing in the workplace. This is a non-accredited course, a certificate of attendance will be issued.

Course Content:The course will cover all the relevant legal requirements and contains practical sessions to enable those attending to test a variety of different appliances and detect common faults.

Electrical Appliances
- The legal requirements; what exactly does the law require?
- What should be tested?
- How should it be tested, and how often?
- Who is responsible for the testing, and who will be blamed if there is an accident?
Electrical Appliances
- What types of equipment do we have to test?
- Class 1 and Class 2 appliances
- How to carry out a simple examination.
- Checking plugs, cable and fuses
Examination, Inspection and Testing
- Demonstration and hands-on practical work testing a variety of different appliances.
- Important notes on safety.
- Avoiding damage to equipment under test.

- More practical’s and demonstrations, including testing IT equipment.
Outcomes:
Each delegate who completes the course will be given a training certificate. A handbook, containing comprehensive notes to accompany the course will also be provided for each delegate.
